Sa's New Harp

Sa is playing her new harp. She had her first impromptu concert last Friday. She had an appointment directly after harp lessons and took the baby harp was with her. The receptionist asked about it and said she'd never heard harp music before, so Sa played to a whole group in the waiting room. She got a good round of applause. She's only been playing for about 3 months now, but it sounds lovely.

Merry!

This is Merry. Isn't she beautiful? She lent us the harp. The one we broke, than had fixed. In exchange for lending us the harp we made her a harp case. We picked out fabric that we thought she would love. She loved it. I felt so happy giving it to her. She has no idea how blessed we were by her generosity. Sa was able to begin harp lessons and really get a feel for a harpsicle before we got hers.

Sunday

Today The Boy and his dad are going to a Cub Scout fishing derby, Sa is going to order a new game boy game and I'm going to work on the Princess Peach dress. The harp store is very much not interested in selling my harp cases. I was encouraged to get a website and sell them myself. I really don't want to do that. Also they were selling some really nice gig bags. Last time I was there they did not have these gig bags. They were made with like 3/8" high density closed cell foam. They were really nice. They told me they had to order thousands of them to be able to sell them as cheap as they were.
This is not Sa's new harp. I will soon post a picture of it. It's black.
Rising Sun Indiana is a very nice town. More pictures of our day can be seen here.

We passed lots of pretty flowers.

Sa's Harp Case

I finally got the camera working for 5 minutes. This is the foam being built up for Sa's harp case. We've been looking for nice fabric to cover it. She found some at Jo'Ann's for $30 per yard. I said "if I knew that you totally loved it I'd buy it in a minute, but I don't believe you LOVE IT." She said "your right mom." So, the search continues.

Sa's harp case

This is the foam sheet that I bought to make Sa her own harp case.
I made a pattern to cut out the right size pieces.
Now the pieces are all cut out.
The wonderful people at the Sunshine Foam Company sold me this fantastic stuff that made my knife slide through the foam like it was butter. Thanks SFC! I'd show you a pic of the harp case half put together but the camera is acting up.

The Harp

It started with a dream. She wanted to play the harp. Fast forward 5 years. We borrowed a harp and brought it home. A beautiful harpsicle was about to be our foster child. She was doing the happy dance when she hopped out of the car and headed into the house. She was not looking down and tripped. The harp went down. THUNGGGGGG. Before we even got into the house with it the harp was broken. I called its mom. SIGH! You won’t believe what happened. So we took a trip to the harp store in beautiful Rising Sun, Indiana. They fixed the harp. So now in exchange for continuing to borrow the harp I agreed to make a case for the instrument. I got a beautiful piece of foam from The Sunshine Foam Company. I bought some nice upholstery fabric and cut and glued and sewed the pieces together. In the end we have a harp case.

Now I am going to start working on a harp case for her. We are having a harp made for her and it should be ready in the next week or so. More pictures of the harp case can be seen here.
