Last night we went to the award banquet for The Teen.
WOW!
She was the only one in her school who achieved a 4.0 average for the year. Also she received the Niehaus award. This is a huge honor that goes to 1 senior each year. "The Niehaus Award is given annually to a student who exemplifies the core values of the Academy." "A person whose sense of dedication to the school and to other students is unsurpassed. " The 2 quotes are from the letter that accompanied the award. It said a lot more, but I felt I needed to let The Teen decide how much I posted about it.
Her parents are very happy with her.
This is her happy 18th birthday picture.

When You Give a Mouse a Cookie
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is my boy's favorite book. This post is really about The Teen, I mean Teen 1. When you send a teen to 'Rock and Roll High School' what can you expect except that the teen will be musically creative. So The Teen I mean Teen 1 (this is not going to work and I'll explain it in another post) came home about a week ago and said "so, I'm in a band." Than The Teen comes home and hands me pictures to upload.
They are going to be in a battle of the bands contest and they will choose one of these pictures to submit
with their CD.

Teen 1 and Teen 2
I have been informed that Sa no longer wants to be called Sa. It was OK when it was just Mom calling her Sa or Saysay, but now that more people started calling her Sa it bugs her. So when I say "Sa" I am told "I have a name and it is x-many letters long." So hence forth she is Teen 2.
It reminds me of when she loved the book The Cat in the Hat...

Rock and Roll High School
I think I mentioned that The Teen goes to Rock and Roll High School. They just had their second quarter performance. It was loud.

Teenagers
Here is something that can happen when a teenager loses electronic privileges. She increased the value of our house with a wall mural.

Potato Head Jacket
Today I almost finished this Potato Head jacket. I still plan to put pockets on the front. They will now require a little more thought because she suggested that I make them in the shape of hands.
School progress reports came out last Friday and everyone did really good.

I Love My Teen!
This is an assignment my Teen did for English 12
Create Your Own Advertisement
30 points
Name: TheTeen
About the assignment:
In the first lessons of this topic you learned about mass communication and its types and tools. The best way to understand how these elements work together to form mass communication is to use those elements to create your own advertisement!
Instructions:
• Using the space below construct your own advertisement for a product of your choice.
Product Name
Hu- Pellant, Knight-Off
Product Image
(can be clip art or other image)
(fine print reads: warning keep out of the reach of younglings and any human pets, slaves or other)
Target Audience
Ogres and Dragons and the like.
Product SloganIf this doesn’t do the trick, at least you’ll never have to buy fresh meat!
Product Ad Target (newspaper, radio, TV, Internet)
On TV, it would be a commercial demonstration of how the products work, in the Newspaper it would be an article with the products on the page like the icon above, and through the internet, it would be a popup add.
Identify types of propaganda tools used
(name-calling, glittering generalities, transfer, testimonial, bandwagon, plain folks, fear, card stacking) Name-calling, bandwagon,
Explain how propaganda tool(s) are used
In Name-calling humans and the like are referred to as stupid, good-for-nothing and so on, they are not looked kindly upon, in fact that’s the purpose for the substance.
Through bandwagon, it is said that many people have used the product and loved it and you can even read their stories on the web-sight (notlisted)
_____________________________________________________________
And now, you can purchase the all new ‘Knight-OFF!”
Are you a dragon? Are you sick of those stubborn, time-wasting, pain in the stomach knights always coming along and trying to steal your princess or slay you for honor so they can return to their puny village as a hero? Well this is the thing for you! It works exactly like Hu-Pellant, our top selling product for ogres and mythical creatures that like their privacy and hate humans!
_________________________________________________________Teacher Feedback: Teen, This stands out as the most creative response to this assignment I've ever received! I don't know any dragons, but I will let my Ogre friends know about this product. :-) Excellent job!

Background Noise
So, I'm sitting here thinking about what to do. I guess I must be moping. The Teen is back with my car and I'm thinking about going to the festival. She won't go. Than I hear the Teen talking "hello Mrs. H, This is the Teen. Hey, are you busy this afternoon/evening? Well, see my mom had plans to go to the Greek Festival and her friend stood her up. Now she is moping and I wondered if you could/would go with her? OK, well, thanks. Yes, I'll tell her, Bye." It doesn't stop there, she calls another friend. I think I'll go hug the Teen. Than I'll take my self to the festival. Spanikoptia here I come.

Tonight
This is what is going on at my house tonight. It’s actually quite fun to listen to. I told one of them to “hurry up and save the world while he still knew everything.” My Teen said “Mom that is great you should put that on your blog.” I have one teen age girl. I hear about how much teen boys eat but I rarely get to witness it. WOW, this one kid is um, like wow. He is very polite and very hungry.
When I up loaded the pictures to the computer I found a whole series of these pictures.
